Hans-Dieter Dreher triumphs in Gemeente ‘s-Hertogenbosch Prize

German Hans-Dieter Dreher and his lightning-fast Jiniki left all competition behind them in the Gemeente ‘s-Hertogenbosch Prize over 1.45m this evening. With an impressive ride, the duo rushed to victory, with Dreher admitting afterwards, ‘This class was tailor-made for us!’.

For a long time, the competition seemed to be in the hands of Eduardo Alvarez Aznar, who, as second starter, set a time that was unbeatable. But the suspense was in the finale: Dreher and his 11-year-old grey mare Jiniki upped the pace and dipped as much as 1.5 seconds below Aznar's time. Then the Belgian combination Koen Vereecke and Oilily de Muze just managed to pass the Spaniard, leaving Aznar with d'Orient Batilly in third place.

Dreher: ‘I only had one goal: to win!’
‘I really wanted to win today, and everything went exactly according to plan!’ grinned Dreher afterwards. ‘Jiniki is eager, fast and has a lot of blood. She has already won many 1.45m-1.50m classes and is the perfect horse for this kind of course. Sometimes she can be nervous, but today she was calm and focused. She made my job incredibly easy.’

Dutch success in top five
Austrian combination Max Kühner and Eic Up Too Jacco Blue fell just outside the podium. Harrie Smolders upheld the Dutch honour with Kaspar R with a nice fifth place.
