Good start for TeamNL dressage riders in Grand Prix at The Dutch Masters
The TeamNL dressage riders got off to a good start at The Dutch Masters. In the opening competition of the five-star show at the Brabanthallen, the World Cup Grand Prix, Marieke van der Putten (Apeldoorn) and Dinja van Liere (Uden) finished second and third behind Brabant-based British world champion Charlotte Fry. Six TeamNL combinations finished in the top 10. Saturday afternoon, the final World Cup points ahead of the final in Omaha will be distributed.
Marieke van der Putten rode a new personal record with Totilas son Torveslettens Titanium RS2 in the Grand Prix sponsored by her employer RS2 Dressage. On the scoreboard came a total of 76.761 per cent, good for second place. "Very cool. Last year we rode our first World Cup competition here. Back then Titanium was still very green. It's great to notice that Titanium has improved so much a year later and is so much more confident in the ring," Van der Putten said afterwards. "I rode really nice. Titanium is a very happy horse and he really likes the competitions. In the Grand Prix, Titanium is very safe. In the Freestyle that is starting to come out now. During the previous competition in Neumunster the Freestyle also went better, so I have good expectations for Saturday afternoon."
Van der Putten thus rode a new personal record after finishing fifth with the team at last year's World Championships in Herning. Teammate Dinja van Liere rode her top horse Hermès N.O.P. with which she won two bronze medals at the World Championships in the Brabanthallen to third place in the Grand Prix. The winner of Jumping Amsterdam at the end of January is already sure of participation in the World Cup final in Omaha and will be keen to score again in the last World Cup qualifier of the season on Saturday afternoon. Both riders left Germany's top amazon Isabell Werth behind.
